Take to the Snow (Indoors) with Snozone Yorkshire
Wednesday 11th March 2026
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to another Exciting Indoor Sit-skiing Event – and yes it is on snow!
We will be working with Lee and the crew at Snozone Yorkshire in Castleford on Wednesday 11th March. They are a really enthusiastic posse of people – who will introduce you to the thrills and excitement of sit-skiing, or as it is sometimes known “adaptive skiing.”Sitski illustration
Snozone operate from a custom built facility at the Xscape Centre, just off exit 32 of the M6, about six minutes from the centre of Castleford. With a 170m indoor real snow slope, and a smaller beginner slope. It is ideal for all levels of ability – experienced skiers or novices.
After the briefings you’ll get a 30 minute lesson with a private instructor that’s tailored just for you. The sit ski we use is mounted on 2 skis for greater stability. So absolute beginners or never-evers more than welcome!
That’s what we call an Experience!
There are no particular dress requirements, but you need to wrap up warm on the slope – it’s minus 5 degrees out there and gloves are a must! For hygiene reasons, the centre does not hire out gloves or socks. So come prepared with your anoraks, thermals and winter woollies.
We’ll meet at 10.30am and finish approx 2pm.
The centre is fully wheelchair accessible and there is a lift to the upper floor. There’s plenty of parking space and accessible loos by the main entrance.
So we’ll be seeing you in the reception at: Snozone, Xscape, Colorado Way, Castleford WF10 4TA
For further info log on to the Snozone Yorkshire website.
The sport will be restricted solely to people within our remit i.e. with some form of paralysis. But, as ever, friends and family are very welcome to come along and watch the fun!
So, to recap: the date and approximate timings for your diary are:
Wednesday 11th March 2026 – arrival 10.30am prompt; finish approx. 2pm
Note: There is some waiting around as the sessions are one on one, but there’s a cafeteria that overlooks the slopes where you can get hot drinks and snacks, catch up with the rest of the group and enjoy the ambience of the Yorkshire Alps!
Availability is very limited so, to avoid disappointment, please contact Valerie via email: info@sportability.org.uk to book your place.
We hope to see you there!
