Sportability is a registered charity funded purely by voluntary donations, sponsorship and fund raising – no grants, subsidies or State assistance.
So, whether as an individual, a group, sports or social club, company, trust or foundation there are multiple ways to support the Sport! Help us help others to get back the buzz, the adrenaline rush and a life worth living.
Perhaps one of the more offbeat events, like a mud-run could be up your street. This year ‘Back2theTrenches’ are offering a 15% discount to anyone who would like to raise money for Sportability. Just go to their website www.back2thetrenches.co.uk and when booking your place quote “BTTTSPO15” Pop over to our news page for more details.
And the actual fundraising is now so much easier! The website justgiving.com (with whom Sportability has been associated since 2006) will provide a page template that is simple to fill out with the details of your activity or event. You can then simply direct any donors to that site for easy, tax-efficient giving.
As an example check out: Chris’ Blokart Endurance Challenge. Blokart racing for 6 hours for Sportability because Sportability takes the ‘dis’ out of disability!
In August 2014, Colin Campbell, a trustee of Sportability, converted his hiking holiday, the famous Coast to Coast Walk, to a fundraiser for Charity. Yomping 192 miles from St Bees, Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay, North Yorkshire, Colin explains, “I have always wanted to complete Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast walk because it combines a tough physical challenge with the ability to take in the breath-taking beauty of the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors.”
It was very much a family group with Colin and his wife Pauline, her brother Kenneth and his wife Abigail, two dogs and a baby. With ‘the boys’ doing the main slog and the ladies in much needed support it was a classic example of people generously giving time and effort to what they consider worthwhile causes. And raising vital funds!
Similarly Ann Ryan joined the staff of Sportability in January 2014. She already had a holiday planned walking the Camino de Santiago – the Portuguese route. Again, inspired by what she had learned of our activities she generously chivvied her friends and acquaintance to make this a fund-raiser for the Charity.
These generous acts are the life-blood of every charitable organisation and we couldn’t exist without them.
We are delighted to be partnered with Charity Challenge, a company who offer treks, bike rides, mountain climbs, horse riding and white water rafting challenges throughout the world. So if you’re looking for an exciting way to spend your next holiday, to celebrate a big birthday, or mark an anniversary, or want the chance to participate in a life changing experience overseas why not give them a call?
