Privacy notice
This privacy notice explains how and why we, as Sportabililty, process personal information relating to you, in respect of your participation in Sportability events. We also explain your rights in relation to the information we hold, and who to contact if you have any questions or concerns.
We are required by law to publish this privacy notice. We will update it from time to time and inform you of any changes.
What information do we hold about you?
The information we hold is required to administer the Sportability programmes. This information, which is known as “personal data” in the data protection legislation, may include:
- Personal details, such as your name, gender and age
- Contact details, such as your address, telephone number and email address
- Any qualifying medical condition e.g. spinal cord injury
- Any necessary aids e.g. wheelchair, mobility scooter, crutches, etc.
The information we hold will have been provided to us by you to participate in Sportability programmes
How is your information used?
We need your information to administer the Sportability programmes effectively. We also need to communicate with you from time to time, to update you on activities, events and other information that may be of interest.
In the terminology used in the data protection legislation, the reason we hold and use your data will usually be one of the following:
- In order to comply with Sportability obligations to provide charitable events
- In order to satisfy the legitimate interests of Sportability to comply with any statutory or codes of practice required when organising charitable events.Page Break
Sharing your data
We will not share your data with any other party unless this is necessary either to comply with a legal obligation or to meet the legitimate interests of the trustees or another party. Legal obligations and legitimate interests are explained in the section above entitled “How is your information used?”.
We may share your information with the following:
- Sportability’s third party suppliers and their sub-contractors, who are responsible for running the events
We will only share information that is absolutely necessary to allow these organisations to fulfil their obligations. We do not allow them to use your information for their own commercial purposes.
Security
It is very important to us that your personal information is kept secure and used only for the purposes described in this privacy notice. We regularly review the security measures we have in place to ensure they remain appropriate.
We ensure that all parties who process your information on our behalf or with our consent also have appropriate measures in place to keep your information safe.
We will retain your personal data until you ask us to amend or remove your information from our database. You may also unsubscribe at any time.
If we do conclude that certain information is no longer necessary for your involvement in Sportability then we will ensure it is securely destroyed in accordance with our data retention policy.
Your rights
You have legal rights relating to your personal information, including the right in certain circumstances to access, correct, delete or transfer your personal information or to restrict or object to our use of it. If you have given us consent to process your information then you can withdraw your consent at any time.
If you would like to discuss or exercise these rights then please contact us. Information will generally be provided free of charge, although in some circumstances we may charge a reasonable fee.
Other websites
The Sportability website may contain links to other websites that are outside our control and are not covered by this Privacy Policy. If you access other sites using the links provided, the operators of these sites may collect information from you that will be used by them in accordance with their Privacy Policy, which may differ from ours.

This Privacy Policy is subject to change from time to time. It was last reviewed in November 2018.
