While our office is based in north London, we do not (at present) have a central London programme. Obviously many sports demand a large open space and we certainly couldn’t fly over the city!
However, there are a number of regions bordering the capital that offer sport at a reasonable drive distance away. So we’ll highlight some of them here and do keep coming back to check for announcements of new events.
IAN WRIGHT ORGANISATION: The Ian Wright Organisation near West Malling in Kent provide something special – for starters, there are over 250 acres of wonderful woodland, fields, orchards, hillsides, valleys, tracks, steeps and open grassland for us to play in. Mix in 10 acres of forest and you have an impressive terrain.
We are all familiar with quadbikes – one of the signature events of Sportability. But the boys at IWO add adapted 4×4 Landrovers for a true off- road experience and an assortment of vehicles specially adapted that will blow your mind and get the pulses racing. All are dual control with accompanied instruction, but having sampled it we can tell you that this is something to be experienced!
OUTDOOR PURSUITS: Just off J5 of the M20, tucked behind Wormdale Farm, near Sittingbourne, is the site for our archery and clay pigeon shooting. Phil and the team at Outdoor Pursuits UK offer a great day’s experience – and even include lunch! You can choose between the more traditional over and under style or semi automatic guns are also available. All guns use low recoil cartridges. There are both 20 and 12-bore shotguns and, don’t worry, if you have never held a bow or a shotgun in your hand before, just be ready to be amazed at what you can achieve. Outdoor Pursuits UK have fully qualified, friendly instructors on hand to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable time.
BDWSA: A few miles South West of Heathrow Airport, at Heron Lake you will find the British Disabled Water-skiing Association, where this fabulous landscaped lake is the playground for our water-skiing event, where you can come along and take part in this amazing sport.
