“I never thought I’d be able to even hold the bow” was the comment of one would be archer, but with a little help from a Velcro wrist support and a change of position in the wheelchair he was hitting the target after half an hour. And before the session ended he’d scored his first bull!

With a range of longbows of different sizes and tensile strengths this is a more accessible sport than many would believe. As the skill improves and the accuracy follows you can see the enjoyment and the sense of achievement flow.

We are currently offering Archery in the Southwest, the Midlands, Surrey and a new drop-in arrangement in East London.

Ted Hughes has worked with us for many years and is our Archery guru at the Rural Skills Centre near Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Our very good friends at the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre provide Archery sessions for us and there is a selection of ever friendly instructors.

For two years we’ve been working with Newham Archers to provide a summer school outing for the Greenwich Disability Resource Centre. However, we have also arranged for a drop-in facility for any of our people to join in Newham’s regular programme. There’s an added advantage here in that they have a big indoor centre for Winter shooting.

If you are interested in trying or would like more information about Archery please call us on 0208 959 0089 or email us via our activities contact form.
