A brilliant and thoughtful scheme by care home supplier, Blueleaf Care, allowed Sportability to be the beneficiary of three days of the kind, skilled and very welcome assistance of Glynn Ward this Summer.
Blueleaf’s “Three days volunteering” scheme allows employees time off to support good causes, and to our delight, their employee, Glynn Ward, took the opportunity to use the charity days scheme to volunteer for Sportability. …a great example of the private sector supporting the charity sector.
“the smiles on everyone’s faces… priceless”
Glynn came along to a Gliding event at the Wolds Gliding Club at Pockington on Friday 30th May, assisting 10 people across not very friendly wheelchair ground and getting them in and out of gliders.
He also helped out at a Quad Biking event at Richmond, North Yorks, on Wednesday May 21st, again helping people on and off the bikes.
Glynn was very patient and empathetic and undoubtedly contributed to the success of those events. His efforts can be seen below, in photos provided by our local area organiser, Jane Mackenzie.
Glynn’s third event with Sportability was a powerboating event off Whitby, and as you can see from the picture below, Glyn was very hands-on helping to get people on and off the boat.
A very big THANK YOU to Blueleaf, and to Glynn!
Sportability Chief Executive, David Heard, praised; “Another great day made easier for the group by his cheerful assistance and support”, adding; “This is a great scheme that really does give something back to all involved.”
Glynn himself observed of the experience; “Being an assistant aid is a great pleasure, travelling at high speed in boats was fantastic, the smiles on everyone’s faces and getting soaked was priceless. It’s just a bonus personally for me to have the opportunity to help.”
Logistics Manager for Blueleaf Care, Lee Turnpenny, added; “We are so proud the charity day scheme works so well for all involved and look forward to the next instalment.”
Sportability would like to say a very big THANK YOU to Blueleaf, and to Glynn, with Heard adding; “Thanks again for your support in this way and I’m sure that Glynn got a lot of satisfaction out of the day as well. It’s a great company initiative and very much appreciated.”
