Power Boating – Whitby, Yorkshire
Wednesday 3rd July 2024
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are thrilled to announce the July 2023 date for some Power Boating in Yorkshire. The fully qualified crew at Wetwheels Yorkshire will be waiting to welcome you at the Marina Office in Whitby.
Don’t Miss out – Make sure you Book Now!
There are two sailing sessions (am, & pm). Please let us know which one you prefer.
Session One : Arrival time 2.00pm – Sailing: 2.30pm.
Session Two : Arrival time 4.00 pm – Sailing: 4.30 pm
The full address is Marina Office, off Langbourne Road, Whitby, Y021 1YW. Meet here and wait to be escorted to the boat by a member of the Wetwheels crew.
The Wetwheels boat will enable you to experience the joy, the fun, the exhilaration of powered boating with everyone getting a turn at sailing the boat. Complete novices and never-evers are more than welcome. A friendly team of instructors and experienced sailors will ensure your time on the water, whatever your level, is thrilling
The marina is fully accessible and there is roll on, roll off wheelchair access to the boat. Life Jackets are of course provided.
Don’t worry if you haven’t tried power boating before, there will be plenty of hands-on advice, guidance and instruction.
And remember that with Sportability anyone within our remit can participate free of charge. And, for this event only, friends, family and carers can participate, for a price. Enquire, if interested, with your booking request.
There are wheelchair accessible loos at the meeting point but no changing rooms, so if you do get wet you will have to change in one of these loos. The marina is in the centre of Whitby with plenty of cafes only five minutes away and there is disabled parking just by the Marina Office.
You don’t need special clothing, anything that is comfortable is OK. Tracksuits are ideal, but any casual trouser, jeans, tee-shirts and sweatshirts or fleeces are fine. Ladies, do not wear dresses or skirts as the life jackets use crutch straps.
It will always feel cooler on the water, so it is a good idea to bring an extra layer. As mentioned before a change of clothes is also not a bad idea – just in case, but Wetwheels do have splash capes available on board.
So just to recap on those details:
Power Boating – Wednesday 3rd July 2024, meeting at the Marina Office, arrive for 2pm or 4pm
Give it a try, you may get totally hooked!
So if you want to join us then please contact Valerie info@sportability.org.uk and please mention at time of booking if you are a wheelchair user and whether you prefer session one or session two.
Best Wishes,
The Sportability Team
