Take to the Skies (Indoors) with Sportability
Indoor Skydiving at iFLY Basingstoke
Tuesday 13th October 2020
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are delighted to announce we are Back with the 2nd in our exciting series of  Indoor Skydiving.
We will be working with the crew at iFLY in Basingstoke. They are a really enthusiastic posse of people – who will introduce you to the thrills and excitement of skydiving on 13th October.
IMPORTANT COVID NOTICE
Covid-19 procedures require that, if you will need any help getting into a flying suit, you have a nominee (personal assistant, relative,etc) being a member of your bubble from whom you are not required to isolate, who, alone, will be able to help you. Unfortunately, under the present situation there can be no close handling by any other person, including iFLY staff, except in the wind tunnel.
Covid precautions: iFLY have in place a system of pre-sanitised helmets; flying suits; social distancing; limited group sizes etc. Sanitiser will be available at all times. PA’s, friends or family, are limited to a maximum of 1 per flyer. You must arrive wearing a face covering. Temperature screening will take place on arrival. If they have any reason to believe that visitors exhibit Covid-19 symptoms, they will be unable to permit entry. They are working with the general public on those terms.
These are, of course, precautions intended to minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmissions that iFLY have put in place in order to comply with their obligations under government directives. However, as you will appreciate, there is no absolute guarantee on non-infection and we would accordingly ask you to please ensure that you carefully assess the risk in respect of your own personal condition before deciding whether or not to participate.
The Event: Here’s what they say, “Yes, you really can fly! iFLY is where those dreams of flight become a reality. Get ready to be suspended in our column of air which totally reproduces the feeling of freefall. Super safe, super fun and super cool!”
iFLY operate from a custom built facility at the Leisure Park in Central Basingstoke, less than 20 minutes from the M3. Pride of place is a 14ft (4.3m) diameter, super-smooth, super-fast and super-cool wind tunnel which jets you off the floor and suspends you airborne. It is literally a ‘blast’.
We’ve again agreed some taster flights for our people. You might only be flying for a few minutes, but it will make you feel sky high.
That’s what we call an Experience!
Flying suits and helmets will be provided and there are no particular dress requirements, except trainers or soft shoes are the preferred footwear; and anyone with long hair should have the means to tie it back.
We’ll meet promptly at 12.00 pm.
The centre is fully wheelchair accessible and there is a lift to the flying floor. Access to the waiting room is also wheelchair accessible BUT the entrance to the wind tunnel is narrow. Don’t worry! Assistance will be on hand for those that need it.
So we’ll be seeing you in the reception at: iFLY Indoor Skydiving, Basingstoke Leisure Park, Euskirchen Way, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG22 6PG. There’s parking just outside.
For further info log on to the iFLY website.
Important Notice: The following conditions are advised by iFLY and apply to all participants. Persons flying should never have had a dislocated shoulder, and not suffer with epilepsy. There is a weight limit of maximum 18 stone (114kg).
When booking, please provide the following information which helps with the smooth running of the event.  Are you in a wheelchair? Can you weight bear and do a standing transfer?
The sport will be restricted solely to people within our remit i.e. with some form of paralysis.
