Canoeing Down the Wye!
Wednesday 17th July 2019
We are pleased to announce the July 2019 date for our canoeing event with Stuart and the posse at Wye Canoes. Book Now!
The trip starts at the historic town of Ross on Wye and finishes some five miles later at Kerne Bridge, near Goodrich Castle.
We’ll be using the big two-seater Canadian canoes and for those who are a bit unsure (or unstable) we’ll be lashing some canoes together to make an ultra-stable four-seater. Stuart can even provide back supports for those who might need them. [And if your energy is flagging then the rest of the crew can help you through!]
So make a note of the date: Wednesday 17th July 2019.
It’s a 10.30am arrival for an 11.00am start. There’ll be a safety briefing and issue of life jackets (buoyancy aids) and all equipment. And don’t worry – we’ll be met at the other end and transported back to the start point. But if you need any wheelchairs, crutches etc let the team know and they’ll get them there for you.
Our local man, Dan will meet you at the launch point – Wye Road, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 7BX – next to the Riverside Inn Pub. There is a public disabled toilet and ample street parking opposite.
The trip is about two and half to three hours along one of the finest and most picturesque rivers in the UK and there is plenty of wildlife to see. Of course we’ll have experience Wye Canoe guides and instructors with us throughout.
It will be a day to relish and remember. So go for it!
We also have a video link to shows some rafted kayaks and the type of landing stage we’ll be using.
Lifejackets will be provided, but please bring a fleece or windproof/waterproof jacket; and even a change of clothes – certainly footwear. Even if you don’t go in, you may still get wet!
So, to recap, please put this date in your diary:
Wednesday 17th July 2019 – 10.30am ’til approx. 2.30pm – Canoeing the Wye.
We’d love to see you there, so if you want to join us then please contact Valerie or Ann at the Sportability office on 020-8959-0089; or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
