It was the first time that Di had been able to share a sport with husband Dave (tetraplegic) in their whole married life. The only concession for the wheelchair user is a double bounce of the ball, otherwise same court size, same rackets, same rules. And that was the genesis of our wheelchair tennis programme. So for the whole of this summer we have had weekly tournaments in East Anglia and now we're negotiating to get the same in all our other regions. It could also become an indoor feature – so watch this space.
