Scuba Diving in Dorset & Hants on Sunday Oct 26th

We are delighted to introduce Scuba Diving to the Dorset & Hants programme of events. Scuba has been one of Sportability's pioneering events - we were one of the first organisations to put people with paralysis through the PADI open water diver qualification. So we are more than happy to offer the opportunity of 'try dives', to our people the D&H area.

This new collaboration is with the very enthusiatic Louise and her team at Just U Dive, based in Poole, Dorset.

Part of our search for winter weather-proof activities, these try-dives will be held at an indoor swimming pool at the Ferndown Leisure Centre, Cherry Grove, Ferndown, Dorset BH22 9EZ.

Try dives are exactly that - a taster of underwater swimming in the safe confines of the swimming pool, with competent qualified instructors. Swimming pool might sound mundane, but believe me the thrill is uncanny. Laying on the bottom slowly breathing and watching that action above is a unique experience. And you'll have dedicated dive 'buddies' assisting you to this introduction to a whole new world.

Then, if scuba is for you, there are fully certifiable courses available, and we'll put you in touch with Handicapped Scuba Association qualified instructors.

All equipment will be provided on the day. All facilities are fully accessible, and there is a hoist on site to assist with easy transfer into and out of the water.

Please remember your swimsuit and for convenience, we recommend a packed lunch and a flask full of something warm to drink after.
