More Fishing and Sailing events in the Midlands - August 2009

We are delighted to announce two new events to our Midlands programme - Fishing at Snibston near Ashby De La Zouch and Sailing at Watermead Country Park.

First: Fishing on Sunday 16 August 2009

The Grange Nature Reserve has two 1 acre fishing lakes, with a total of 40 fishing pegs for anglers to choose from. Both Carp and Match lakes are surrounded by a variety of fishing pegs accessible to wheelchair users. For anyone not familiar with the term 'fishing pegs' (and that is ok - neither were we) this refers to allocated spaces on the bank.

Both lakes are stocked with a variety of fish including: roach, perch, tench, barbel, bream, chub, and carp - so plenty of opportunity to make that catch!

All equipment and bait will be provided. Please note that assistance will be available for fishing, but NOT for care/access issues. So we recommend that you bring along a friend, carer or relative to enjoy the experience with you if you require further assistance on the day.

Disabled loos are on site, at the main entrance and refreshments are available at the main visitor centre on the way into the Country Park. But, for convenience, we recommend a packed lunch and a flask full of something warm to drink.

We would also advise all participants to wear old comfy clothing and bring waterproofs - it can be damp and chilly. You might also want to bring along a change of top clothes - fishing can be a smelly pastime!

The full address of the venue is: Snibston Country Park, Ashby Road, Coalville Leicestershire LE67 3LN.

We hope you'll enjoy not only the scenic settings and the peace of the countryside, but also, the thrill of the catch.

Then: Sailing on Tuesday 18 August 2009

Watermead Country Park is ideal for total beginners, aswell and more experienced sailors. There will be hoist available and of course lifejackets.

Wear old comfy warm clothing as it can be chilly on the water and bring along waterproofs and a change of clothing as you will get wet.

Disabled toilets are available with radar key and the park charges £1.50 for entrance.
