Area Organiser - Sophie Turley
Hailing from the Dorset & Hants stable is Sophie Turley. A great enthusiast for all things Sportability, she has now moved to the Kent &Sussex area. We’re delighted that she will be taking over and growing the pilot programme that we ran last year. Sophie has plans for gliding, archery, sailing, quadbiking, swimming and scuba-diving.
We have two sailing venues. The first working with the Westbere Sailability :-
WSO operates on the spectacularly beautiful Westbere Lake near Canterbury in East Kent. For the full location and directions please click here
The WSO have a great philosophy as this quote taken from their website www.wsosail.org.uk explains: "WSO is about making it happen. At Westbere we don't see a disability, just a person who wants to get on the water and have some fun. OK, some people might need a little more help than others, but that doesn't mean it's not possible."
WSO have a fleet of 12 sailing dinghies and three Wayfarers which have the added bonus of having hand-controls.
And the second, with the Bough Beech Sailing Club 1, which is located some 30 miles from central London and a short drive east along the M25 from Redhill. The Club is based on a beautifully located 250 acre lake, nestling in the hillside between Edenbridge and Sevenoaks.
Don't worry if you have never tried sailing before, there will be plenty of on-hand advice, guidance and instruction.
