Multi-sports dates Bristol & Gloucester 2009

We are delighted to kick off our 2009 Bristol and Gloucester regional programme with the following events:

First up we have Quadbiking & Archery taking place on Wednesday 15th April & Wednesday 29th July at the Rural Skills Centre, Cirencester.

For directions to the RS Centre please click here.

As ever, this event is open to the complete novice quadbiker or archer and/or someone with a little more experience - it really doesn't matter. It is really just about trying something new and different - you may be surprised at what you can achieve!

Next up, its the same venue, but this time the Quadbiking is twinned with Falconry on Friday 22nd May and also Wednesday 26th August 2009.

The Falconry element is something really different - this is a fascinating introduction to the world of raptors - birds of prey. Part informal lecture, part participation, as you actually get to hold the giant African Battler Eagle, the Harris Hawk or the cheeky Eagle Owl and learn a great deal about these beautiful creatures.

Our resident expert, Geoff, will treat you to a display of hunting and flying that is both impressive and exhilarating. The birds will swoop low over your head, feed whilst perched on your arm, or flash into the lure like an Exocet. And it is all explained in a humorous, earthy style by the knowledgeable and hugely entertaining Geoff.

The meet time is approx 10.30am for all events with an 11am start time. There will be a short break between events through until approx- 3pm

So, just to recap on those details:

Quadbiking & Archery - Wed April 15th & Wed 29th July 2009 - Rural Skills Centre, Cirencester - 10.30am meet, 11am start - 3pm

Quadbiking & Falconry - Friday May 22nd & Wednesday 26th August 2009 - venue and timings as above.

Please note the timings and order of events may change slightly on the day.

Next up, it's the ever popular Gliding twinned with Blokarting!

This event takes place with our friends at Cotswold Gliding Club, Aston Down, Minchinhampton, Gloucester.

Because there is only one person in flight at any given time (and allowing for loading and unloading) there is quite a gap between flights. To avoid waiting time we like to stagger the start times by half an hour - so the first person up will be just after 11, then 11.30 and so on.

Perhaps between flights you might like to check out something different? We'll also have the bonus of our regional organiser, Chris Selway's Blokarting experience. This portable land-yacht is easily assembled, doesn't need a lot of space, and adds another dimension to our activities. And no need to simply spectate, you could have a go yourself in tandem with Chris or, under his instruction, go solo! It's a great new experience.

The all important Gliding/Blokarting dates are:

Tuesday 26th May, Thursday 20th August & Tuesday 27th October 2009.

We should also have a Sailing date soon, so please watch this space!

If you think you would like to join us at any of the above exciting events then please do not hesitate to contact our Southwest Regional Organiser, Chris Selway via email : c.selway@blueyonder.co.uk or call the Sportability office on 0208-959- 0089

We hope to see you there!

Best Wishes,

The Sportability Team
